Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

1. How can I become a member?
blue arrow That's easy. Just click on Free Paid Surveys Signup and fill out the form provided.

2. Is there any cost or membership fee?
blue arrow For the Free Paid Surveys section of PricelessSurveys.com, there is no Membership fee.

3. Once I sign-up, when should I expect to receive my first survey?
blue arrow Normally, you should receive your first paid survey within the first week or two. However, this really depends on your "profile" (age, location, gender, etc.) and the current needs of our clients. Please remember that you're not going to be eligible for every survey. For example, if you're a man and the current survey is about women and cosmetics, you won't be invited to take that survey.

4. Can I do this anywhere? What if I do not live in the US?
blue arrow You do not have to live in the US to participate. Some of the surveys are general and have to do with online activity or general questions. Anyone can take surveys - in any country. (At this time, we only provide paid surveys for those who reside in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, and the US.)

5. How many surveys should I expect to receive on a monthly basis?
blue arrow This depends on several factors, including their need for survey-takers who fit your profile. Sometimes you'll go for a few weeks with no survey requests, and the next week you might get 5-10. The average per survey company is around 2-4 paid surveys per month. In order to make the most money possible, we highly recommend that you register with as many of the survey companies that we show you. After a while, you'll receive more paid surveys than you can handle. It takes a little bit of effort to register with them all, but a month from now you'll be glad you did.

6. Why do I get paid for sharing my opinion and filling out surveys?
blue arrow Companies spend billions of dollars a year trying to convince consumers to buy their products and services. They achieve this by getting an understanding of how people think and shop. Knowing this, companies are willing to pay consumers like you for their honest opinion. In the end, they are able to come out with better products.

7. Why do some surveys reward me with prizes, etc. and not cash?
blue arrow Some companies will often want you to take a short "screener" survey when you first register with them. Unfortunately, these are not usually paid surveys. You'll usually be entered into a drawing. The real purpose behind screener surveys, however, is that it's how some of the better market research companies get to know you. It's how they determine which surveys you're eligible for. The funny thing is that because screener surveys don't pay cash, many people don't do them - so the odds of winning the prize being offered are a lot higher than you might think. It's also the "secret" to getting invited to take the really good surveys in the future! Here's an example of a Screener Survey from Winning Surveys. Go ahead and take it, so you can see how easy they are.

8. How much does each survey pay? How much money can I make?
blue arrow Once again, this depends on many factors due to the ever-changing needs of the market research community. Sometimes you might receive a short survey that takes just a few minutes to fill out and pays $15, and a week later you might get invited to a 2-hour focus group/survey that pays $150. The amount of money you make will also depend greatly on the number of market research companies you register with. The more you register with the more survey invitations you will receive.

9. How will I get paid for taking a survey, and who will pay me?
blue arrow Once you register with some of the survey companies, you'll know the exact details up-front before taking a survey. Usually, the individual market research company will pay you directly. Payment is usually in the form of a company check that is mailed to you via postal mail, usually within a few weeks. Nowadays, more and more companies are starting to use online payment processors such as PayPal, which is great because it means that you'll usually receive your reward much faster.

10. If I've a busy schedule, will I have enough time to do this?
blue arrow Of course you will. One of the best parts about paid surveys is that you set your own schedule. It's perfect for everyone because you decide when and how much you want to work at any given time. You can do it completely at your own pace. If you have an extra half an hour in the morning before you go off to work, you can do a few surveys. If you are a stay-at-home mom, you can complete surveys while the kids are at school. Or maybe it is late at night and you can't sleep. These are all perfect times to do surveys and get paid! The great thing about this is that if you get busy with other things and don't have any time to do surveys for awhile, that's okay! Since you are the boss, you don't have to worry about getting fired. You can do surveys when it's convenient for you.

11. How long does it take to complete a survey?
blue arrow Usually, "screener" surveys are very short and can take as little as 5 minutes to complete. Most other surveys take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Some focus groups may require you to participate for several hours. The individual survey companies will tell you before-hand how long a survey might take.

12. Is my personal information secure?
blue arrow Market research companies know that you are the lifeline of their business. They are usually paid by large corporations to conduct surveys on their behalf, but without consumers like you to take their surveys they would be out of business in a hurry. Therefore, they take your privacy very seriously. Generally you'll be asked to provide basic information about where you live, what you do for a living, etc. in order to build your personal "profile". This is how they know which surveys to send you, but you never have to provide any information you are not comfortable giving out. Here at PricelessSurveys, we will not give your personal information to anyone. For more information, please see our Privacy Policy. Also, be sure to review each company’s privacy policy before you sign up.

13. What can I do to make sure I receive all my survey invitations?
blue arrow As you can imagine, it's very important that you provide a valid email address when you register with each individual company. Otherwise, you will miss important paid survey invitations. Although most spam filters do a good job of weeding out spam email, oftentimes they block legitimate email that you want to receive. You should therefore add to your address book (or place in approved sender list) any email address provided by your registered survey companies. If you need to update your email address given to us, login to your account and click the "Edit Profile" link.

14. What about taxes on the money I make?
blue arrow If you're a U.S. citizen, you'll be considered an "independent contractor" for income tax purposes and no income or other taxes are withheld from the payments you receive. Since we will not be paying you directly, any questions related to your taxes should be directed towards each individual survey company you registered with. At the end of the year, any survey company that has paid you $600 or more will send you an IRS Form 1099, which you should include as "miscellaneous income" on your tax return. If you are not a U.S. citizen, you will need to ask an accountant or other tax professional for the answer to this question, and how it might apply to you in your country. Please note that we are not accountants and are not qualified to provide accounting, tax, or other legal advice. Our answer is based on our understanding of the tax laws, and how we handle this situation ourselves. Always check with your accountant or other tax professional.

15. How do I take the Current Survey listed at the top of the website?
blue arrow Upon registering, you will receive an email invitation to participate in our current survey, only if you qualify. If you don't receive an email notification, you should also login to your account to double-check that the email address you provided is still accurate. Keep in mind that you're not going to be eligible for every survey. Some surveys are targeted towards either men or women, or those who live in a certain area. If you don't receive an invitation to participate in the current survey listed on our homepage when you register, it simply means that you're not eligible for that survey. However, you will receive otehr paid survey invitations after you register with as many of the survey companies as you can.
